7/13/2023 0 Comments Gladys aylward timeline![]() ![]() Gladys got really sick at the orphanage and they had to rush her to the hospital. They walked all the way to Sian and she got them to an orphanage. Gladys and the children got on a train to Sian, but about half way through the train tracks were broken so they had to get off and walk again. Now that she got them across the river she needed to find an orphanage for them to stay at, but she better hurry because she is starting to get sick. Finally a Chinese officer came by on his boat and brought them across the river. Once they came back she would boil the vegetables and they would have healthy food. She took the water from the river, made a fire, and boiled the water while the kids found vegetables. Now time to cross the river, but how? Gladys and the children waited and waited for someone to pass by on a boat but it took forever. When it started to get dark, they stopped hiking and found a place to sleep she always found a good place for the children so they would have energy the next morning. Also when they found food or ate food that they brought, Gladys would only eat a bite or two and the children would get the rest. ![]() So that made it even harder for her because she had to carry extra weight. About every 45 minutes she switched kids. Gladys led the children through the mountains and always had a kid on her back. She was brave, brave enough to lead the children through the mountains. Gladys was accepted as a missionary when she became 73 years old. Because she didn’t get that job, Gladys worked at different places until she was accepted as a missionary. Gladys failed to pass examination so she wasn’t able to be a member. At age 26 she became a probationer the China Inland Mission Center in London. Gladys was born on Februin Edmonton, London. She led them through the mountains so they would be safe from the Japanese soldiers.īorn in London, a savior. She showed great compassion to these children. Through prayer we demonstrate our trust in Him and that we know He hears us and will help us.Ĥ) Hearing the Bible read directly and responding to what we hear through telling back, drawing, and creating a timeline.ĥ) Looking at great works of art, such as works by Rembrandt, that correspond to the Bible passage read, aiding in memory of the passage and deeper reflection.Ħ) Using our hands to learn a new skill that can serve and bless others such as clay sculpture, painting, calligraphy, loom weaving, and macrame.ħ) Being challenged and encouraged in our faith during a literary enrichment time of hearing a missionary biography or Christian classic such as Pilgrim’s Progress.Gladys Alyward, a children's savior, helped more than 100 children survive the attack from Japan. We ask for His help in class and rehearse the good news of the gospel. We thank God for His blessings and His attributes. We take our requests for ourselves and others to God and enjoy fellowship with Him. We seek to use our classroom time as a beautiful hour with direct access to God’s Word and opportunities to learn and worship through:ġ) Singing great hymns of the faith in order to learn rich and comforting doctrine by heart.Ģ) Learning and reciting longer passages of scripture such as entire Psalms or Jesus’ parables.ģ) Praying. ![]()
